1966: From zero to hero

Geoff Hurst was not in the 1966 England starting line-up, but he scored a hat trick in the final game, in part winning it for England. Now, sometime people might be down on England for not winning the World Cup since 1966, but actually, England is in an elite club of only seven countries that have won the trophy, thanks to some countries being greedy and not wanting to share (like Brazil, who’ve won it five times, and have been to only country whose national team has consistently qualified for every tournament).

He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.
Friedrich Nietzsche

And that’s partly thanks to Hurst, who went from zero to absolute hero. A tip of our hats to you, sir! Not only does he leave us beaming with pride and hope each time a new World Cup tournament begins, he shows that just because you’re not in the best starting position doesn’t mean you can’t score a hat trick.

Lots of blokes feel unprepared and downright inadequate when it comes to becoming a father. After all, mothers have to endure carrying another human being in their bellies, possibly feeding it from their own bodies after it’s born, and quite often feel that they have the heaviest burden of responsibility for the pooper.

Not true! Research shows that the significant involvement of a father in a child’s life makes a huge positive impact on their well-being and future prosperity. Even if you’re separated from your child’s mum, just getting involved with your kids and providing a positive male role model for them will make a massive impact on their health and happiness. Even if you might feel like a zero at first, you can easily become a hero.
