The World Cup started in 1930, with the first team to ever hoist the trophy being Uruguay, with Argentina being runners-up. So, with the suspension of the World Cup during the Second World War, there were three contests for the Cup before 1950.
And that’s thrice the possibility that England could have won the World Cup. England didn’t enter the world cup before 1950. Consequently, England didn’t win the world cup before 1950. Why? The reasons are complicated, and mostly lost to history. But who knows? Maybe we could have been the first champions of the first global footie tournament, being able to print “Original Champions!” on the T-shirts and caps that are sold every four years everywhere from John Lewis to your local off-licence.

Never tried is always failed.
If you don’t try, then you’ll never really know if something is possible. Plus you might learn something, and at least be able to tell your mates down the pub that you gave it a go.
Whenever you feel like you can’t or shouldn’t do something, ask yourself the question “What will I lose, and what do I stand to gain?” If the answer is your right arm, and a really tasty bacon sarnie, then no, no you shouldn’t. But if it’s a little time and a small bit of pride, and something you’ve always wanted or hoped for, then yes, yes you should.
