School 4 Dads: Potato

In these tough times, it can be hard to find the extra cash to eat out or get a take-away. Cooking is a great way of spending time with the kids, and can be healthy and economical too!

Meal times together offer families a great opportunity to talk. An informal platform for open discussion, it gives children the chance to discuss any problems they are having. It can be relaxing and give everyone a chance to unwind from their day. Talking to your children over dinner is a great way to get to know them a bit better and gain their trust.

Children need routine in their lives. If your family has been affected by the recession, and you are faced with change, maintaining family routines, setting aside time regularly to eat a meal together can help children to feel secure and loved.

We don’t have Jim’s recipe for Sweet Potato Pie to offer you, but the links below might provide some inspiration.
