Be vegetarian Vegetarianism is a controversial issue – is it really healthier and better for the environment? Giving up meat if you weren't raised vegetarian can be tricky, and requires a lot of thought and willpower. 

Work as a nurse Nurses are so much more than support for doctors. They are highly trained medical professionals, and often have more contact with individual patients than consultants do, coping with emotional stress as well as medical emergencies. This requires a great deal of chutzpah and grit: strong and resilient men and women. 
 
Be a receptionist Receptionists are the guardians of an office: keeping business flowing in by redirecting people, but keeping spam, sales calls, and scams out. It's like a more subtle type of security guard.

Stay at home to look after the kids While to some people a stay-at-home-dad is a contradiction in terms, if, after long talks with your partner you both decide it's the best thing for your family, it's an awesome opportunity to watch your kids grow up day-by-day.

Have a bromance. With a girl There is a long-standing myth that men and women can't be friends, that close friendships between men and women always turn into romance. While there might be something behind this, being best mates with a woman (who's not your partner) can give you a perspective on your life that could be different, and unique. 

Count calories They're on every foodstuff box, from popcorn to lasagne or ice cream. Why? Because too many calories is bad news bears for your heart and waistline. Counting them is the easiest way to keep track of what you're eating – and you don't need to read Marie Clare to do it.
