The drill:
Place three cones (or stones, or whatever) at an equal distance of 20 metres apart. You and your child start at the same end, then start you start to jog one end to the other and then back to your starting point—tag your child, and then they do the same! Then, try the same thing running backwards, and then side skipping! Finally, sprint, touch the middle and end cones on the way, and on the way back.
Warming up for the mornings ahead:Avoid panic in the mornings by preparing things the night before: Set aside fifteen minutes in the evening to get clothes, schoolbags and homework for the next morning organized. Get the kids involved, and make a short list of things do before pajama time. Though this seems a little OTT, fifteen minutes in the evening might save you treble that amount of time trying to find left shoes, clean shirts, and that special permissions slip.
Have a bedtime routine: A good, long sleep at any age can stop (or at least lessen) the morning grumpies at any age. Establishing a fun but steady bedtime routine (think tea > play > bath > pajamas > story > lights off) can help your kids have rested and regular sleep habits.
Have a morning routine: Avoid morning chaos by having a routine. Yes, as an adult you might find routines extremely boring (and in some cases, soul-destroying) but for kids they give a sense of safety and structure that allows them to play and learn comfortably.
