Captain Pike
Captain pike profile

Publisher's description:

Captain Pike discovers that looking after a baby isn't quite as easy as he thought in this crazy piratical mix of cutlasses and lullabies, treasure maps and nappies. But when Captain Whitebeard and his crew attack the ship, it turns out some pirates have a soft spot for babies ...and at last Captain Pike learns how to cope with his offspring. With a story to really make children giggle and bright, colourful illustrations bursting with energy and comic detail from an exciting new artist, these pirates are hard to resist!

Dads Space Review by Tim Auvache:

A pirate Dad! A one legged, eye patch bearing, pirate Dad? Arrrrrhh, ‘tis Captain Pike and his band of sea dogs! Baby’s Mum deserves a break so Captain Pike is lumbered for the day, and he’s not entirely sure what to do. Then, oh no, the ship is attacked by Captain Whitebeard, but it’s ok - Whitebeard loves babies.

This is a funny book, filled with busy drawings, lots characters and carefully labeled objects (jars on a shelf read: biccies, parrots eggs, treasure spaghetti). This should shiver the timbers (and funny bones) of most kids. Good to see that even hardened pirates can show their sharing caring parent side.
