Lack of role models?

Interesting article on the BBC News website today blaming a lack of role models for the rise of gang culture in the UK. According to a new survey by the Princes Trust, one in three young people in the UK don't consider their own parents to be worthy of respect.

According to the survey, young people are twice as likely to turn to a peer (60%) with a problem as they are to turn to a parent (31%).

It's chilling stuff, and it shows how important good parenting is to helping your kids make good decisions as they grow into adults. Earlier this week, Dads Space interviewed author Anthony McGowan, who's written a number of young adult fiction titles dealing with gang culture - and he had some very interesting things to say about the current state of teenagers. Check back for that interview in the coming weeks, and in the mean time, let us know what you think about teenage gangs - could we be doing more as parents?
