Dads Space Review:

Tomy bring Air guitar screaming into the 21st Century with the Guitar Rock Star! Select a tune then strum the air beneath the disembodied guitar head to produce the sweet sounds of rock. The device is incredibly light (1.5kg) meaning you can play behind the back of your head Hendrix-style without breaking a sweat.

You can also plug in headphones and output to an amp. For Musos, this means you can use the add FX pedals and abuse the feedback loop - for everyone else it means you can get some peace and quiet while the kids strum silently in the air on the backseat of the car.

Unlike console favourite Guitar Hero, the fret buttons correspond to actual chords so you can work out popular songs from song books with ease, or even write your own songs. At £15, it's a lot cheaper than a real guitar, so it's an affordable way to see if your kids really have the patience for a real instrument. Like a real instrument though, it may cause some frustration if they can't get the hang of it right away. Still, even if they get bored with it, you'll still be rockin' out to the break of dawn.
